When participating in trade shows, choosing the right trade show is on the priority list of every exhibitor, but how many of you actually focus on choosing the right exhibition space once you have decided on the trade show?

There’s no doubt that choosing the right space for an exhibit booth is  as important as choosing the right trade show to exhibit at. If you look at the hall design of any expo trade show, you will find that not every booth is designed the same way. Some are designed to get you amazing footfall, while others are either hidden in the corner or too small to accommodate your products/requirements.

As we have helped many businesses build amazing rental booths in Las Vegas, we have got good hands-on experience with how you can choose the perfect exhibition space that can get you more traffic while evaluating the right value of the booth that you are getting.

So, let’s get started without any further delay!

7 Tips to Choose the Best Exhibition Space at Trade Shows

Follow the pointers below to find the most suitable booth location for your next trade show. This will increase your visibility, engagement, and return on investment for the booth.

Whether you’re a seasoned exhibitor or a first-timer, the following tips will help you make an informed decision to ensure your booth stands out and attracts the right audience.

    1. Next to the Entrance

Choosing an exhibition space that’s very close to the trade show entrance gate is the best decision you can make. There’s no doubt that all the participants would go to the next booths by passing your booth if you have one near the entrance.

Moreover, if your goal from the trade show is to get more visibility, this location is highly suitable. The hanging banner and standees located near the entrance will give your brand way better visibility compared to other booths.

Plus, when the attendees are just entering the booth, they are fresh, energetic, more open to conversations, and highly likely to explore your offerings. This combination gives your sales team the opportunity to start more conversations with prospective leads.

    2. Near the Food Stall and Restrooms

The next best location  you can choose for your trade show booth is near the high-traffic area. Think of areas where people come to have food and beverages or use the restroom.

However, it’s not recommended to have your booth exactly next to the restroom, but you can have it in close proxy. This way, you can have more people passing by your booth and thus get a glance at your booth while avoiding the bad smell of restrooms.

On the other hand, if you choose the exhibition space that’s near to the food area, you are more likely to get footfall during the lunch and meal hours. To leverage this unique location proposition, you can offer some desserts for free to attract more visitors.

    3. At the Aisle Intersections and Corners

Having an exhibition space on either the aisle or corner is another good opportunity for you to be easily accessible to the trade show visitors. Imagine a booth where both sides of your booth are open, doubling the chances for your sales team to get in touch with attendees and discuss future partnerships.

    4. Being Closer to Major Player

Moving forward, it’s also good to have an exhibit that’s near to the major players of your industry. For example, if you are in the shoe industry, having a booth near Nike can give you big exposure while improving your brand positioning.

Other than major players, you can also be closer to the areas where trade show sponsors have placed their booths, as they, too, will be getting major attention from the crowd. However, keep in mind that they shouldn’t be your direct competitors as it can do more harm than good for you.

    5. Avoid Dead Corner

There are some points and locations at the trade show that you should totally avoid while selecting a space for an exhibition. These spots include dead corners like having a booth behind big pillars or other obstructions like columns or structured elements that hinder the visibility of the booth.

If you have got a booth that’s located in the dead corner, you can politely request your event organizers about the possibility of relocating to a more open and visible space.

    6. Avoid High Noise Levels and Poor Lighting

The next aspect you should avoid for your exhibition booth space is high noise levels because they create problems for your sales team, and they won’t be able to clearly convey your product/service offerings to the prospects.

Similar to high noise levels, poor lighting can impact the visual appeal of your booth and make your booth look dull and uninviting.

    7. Consider Accessibility for Specially-abled

Last but not least, when choosing an exhibition space, you should consider whether that location is easily accessible to specially-abled people. You can do this by requesting trade show floor plans from the organizers and seeing the facilities they have included in the hall.

Look for facilities such as accessible entrances, ramps, elevators with wide doors, accessible restrooms, lowered counters, and designated parking areas for specially-abled individuals.

Plus, make sure the booth you select has wide aisles free of obstructions that allow wheelchairs and mobility aids to navigate easily. Also, utilize clear signage with large fonts and contrasting colors for easy reading while offering audio descriptions of products or services, if applicable.
